Descrizione:
The use of inclusive language and the promotion of a culture of equality are fundamental themes in the communication strategies and workplace practices of the LINKS Foundation.
The in-person seminar, divided into two two-hour sessions, was led by Professor Federica Turco, Gender Equality Manager at the University of Turin and Research Manager at CIRSDe – Interdisciplinary Center for Research and Studies on Women and Gender.
Researchers actively participated throughout the seminar, contributing questions and comments that fostered discussion and deeper exploration of the various aspects of the topic.
Following a historical and terminological overview and an examination of the main arguments for and against inclusive language, the seminar explored in depth the concepts of identity, orientation, sex, and gender, with the aim of enhancing understanding of how language reflects and perpetuates asymmetries and differences.
The seminar also illustrated the principles for adopting more inclusive forms of expression and their applications, both in traditional formulations and in more contemporary variations.
